One of the many pleasant suprises of india was finding the talented artist Rajkumar sthabathy working in a studio on the outskirts of the international city of Auroville. This artist has managed to capture the essence of india in his work. One glance at the faces of his subjects, be it a rickshaw driver, fish seller or water carrier is to be transported to the scenes so familiar. So invocative are his paintings that one can almost feel the heat, start to brush away the dust, the flies, smell the chapattis and hear the sound of street vendors. For a modest sum you can take a part of india home.

Everything around us is changing without any announcement. Eventhough technology and civilization are essential in our modern life it has undoubtfully deleted the love and affection between the people. Stress is always increasing in the streets. Now a days the change is seen in days instead of years. The rickshawalla can't change themselves in this wave so they camly waits for your pick up. The Koothu performer practises for the role of drowpathy with his long growing hair. People with uncombed hair are wandering in the streets wearing chequvera printed T shirts. Cow dung pasted walls are turned into advertising platforms. The bombay mitaiwalla comes singing the M.G.R songs in our Pizza streets. Our Rickshawalla is sitting like an king in his vehicle never bothering about these changes happening around him. He is a black man who works beyond the heat in the city. one day they might also be stuck in these changes and loose themselves to the modernity. But before that happens i am bringing them in my water colour. They are my inspiration to capture their life in my medium.Water colour is the only medium that can expose this land's colour any fragrance. The space of its spreading and the final result beyond my effort keeps the water colour alive.
